Do you have one or more missing teeth? Are you looking for a durable tooth restoration option? Dental implants might be your right treatment option.
Dental implants are artificial tooth replacements that are designed to look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth. When someone has one or more missing teeth, dental implants are an ideal restoration option owing to their several advantages.
Dental Implants can transform your smile by replacing your missing teeth. They are designed to provide a permanent solution to tooth loss and restore your smile. At Northeast Dental Associates, we have years of experience providing dental implant services that will help you regain your self-confidence and smile.
Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into the jawbone to serve as the replacement for missing teeth. They are then used as a foundation for artificial teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Dental implants can last for years with proper care.
The first step in the implant process is to take X-rays of your mouth to determine if you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. Before placing the titanium post into the jawbone, the dentist will numb your gums with local anesthesia so that you do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Then a small incision is made in your gum tissue, and the post is inserted into the jawbone at an angle between 45 degrees and 90 degrees. The post will remain there for four to six months while it fuses with the bone structure.
After this healing period, a second surgery is needed to attach an abutment to the post on which the artificial tooth will be secured. A titanium screw is used at this stage to secure the tooth in place above your gum line. A special connecting element called an abutment connects the crown to the abutment screw and provides an anchor for it in place. The crown can then be attached after making sure that it fits well and provides stability without shifting or slipping out of place. We will also provide instructions on how to care for your restorations so that they last a long time.
Dental implants can provide you with numerous benefits, including the following:
In order to qualify for dental implants, you must be in good overall health and not suffer from any other dental conditions or diseases. Your jawbone must also be healthy enough to support the implant, and the spacing between your teeth must be large enough for the implant post and crown. If you do not have sufficient jaw bone volume, we will recommend a bone grafting procedure to restore bone health.
